Fluency in French, Spanish, Italian and intermediate Arabic ease her access to human stories.
She has reported for the BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC and Le Monde among other news organisations from the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
Maria has a passion for global and humanitarian affairs. She lived in the Arab world for several years and produced an exclusive BBC report on Syrian refugees in the UK.
‘I like finding untold global news stories, dispelling misconceptions, and investigating humanitarian issues,’ she says. ‘I’ve always relished reporting from the field as well as presenting news programmes.’
From London, Maria presented UNICEF’s global debates and the first-ever Arab women’s rights TV show in English from Bahrain.
She spent several years in the business world, running her own international media consultancy and as Advisor to the CEO of Formula E.
Passionate about the power of sport to highlight global issues, Maria created a partnership with UN Environment and Formula E and, ran the Sahara Marathon to support Western Sahara refugees.
